This part allows for a uniquely popular imaging train that can be accommodated on the GSO, iOptron, TPO, and other style Ritchey-Chretien Truss Tube telescopes of 10", 12", 14", 16".

All GSO based RC models, come with a stock focuser which has M77x.75 female threads and this allows the use of .8x reducer TSRCRed-G2 or the Sharpstar RC2508 to thread directly into it.

Connect Rotator, OAG, EFW, Tilter, & Camera all in one optical train of 82mm!

  • Description

This part allows for a uniquely popular imaging train that can be accommodated on the GSO, iOptron, TPO, and other style Ritchey-Chretien Truss Tube telescopes of 10", 12", 14", 16".  The telescopes, all GSO based RC models, come with a stock focuser which has M77 female threads.

What this part does is allow a direct connection from the stock RC focuser to the WandererAstro Lite M68 rotator AND mount the M68 corrector inside the focuser.  This part bolts directly to the rotator, while offering two key thread points on the inside for focuser and reducer/corrector.

Why RC Users Want This Part?

The beauty of this part, when paired in conjunction with other equipment, can accommodate the following optical train which is quite inclusive.

  • Camera (ASI or QHY with 12.5mm or less backfocus)
  • ASG Photon Cage or Electronic Photon Cage ( Both take up about 3-4mm of backspacing)
  • ZWO 50x50 filter wheel ( thin and only takes up 16mm of backspacing)
  • ZWO OAG-68-L (specially designed for the ZWO filter wheel and takes up 22.5mm of backspacing)
  • 10mm  M68 spacer  (10mm backspacing
  • M68/M68 male/male adapter (1mm of backspacing)
  • WandererAstro Rotator Lite M68 ( Takes up 10mm of backspacing)
  • This custom spacer will thread into your focuser and takes up 6.6mm of backspacing
  • TS-Optics TSRCRed-G2 or Sharpstar RC2508 .8x Reducer/corrector with 82mm backfocus

The corrector this part is designed to accommodate is the TS-Optics TSRCRed-G2 corrector which is a very good corrector/reducer bringing the popular F/8 telescopes down .8x reduction to F/6.4.    This makes for a fairly fast, affordable Ritchey-Chretien that is Full Frame and super flat field.  The TSRCRed-G2 corrector will screw directly into the M68 inner threads of our adapter.  The M77 threads will thread into your stock RC focuser.   The 6 bolt pattern will bolt directly to the WandererAstro Rotator giving you a perfect distance just under the recommended backfocus.

What is unique about this?

This optical train gives you every accessory  (Rotator, OAG, EFW, Tilter, and Camera)  all in the one optical train of 82mm for this specific corrector AND allow Full Frame sensors to be used.   This also is an entire M68 optical train, nothing is compromised in terms of reducing to M54 or M48 accessories here with light falloff at the corners of a full frame very minimal and completely corrected with flats.

Do you need an ASG Photon Cage or EAT?

No, you can customize the optical train.  If you remove the ASG photon cage or EAT 3-4mm from the backfocus, you can often accommodate the smaller filter wheels that run 20mm width.  You can also mix and match and add extra spacers where we suggest 10mm if needed.  The 10mm spacer is required to clear the OAG however if used in the above configuration.

Only the TS-Optics Reducer?

Yes, and No, the TSRCRed-G2 has been researched as one of the best correctors and flat field performers with a .8x reduction and still accommodate the full frame sensor.  Faster reducers may not correct and will not correct for the field of the RC's.  Sharpstar makes another option which is Part # RC2508 however we have not tested it, though they look identical.  Teleskop-Express offers the TS-Optics TSRCRed-G2 and usually has them in stock.
