The Sharpstar 15028hnt Dew Sheild & Parts is a 3D printable system that allows for a slide-on dew shield and cover lid as well as a primary edge mask and bolt caps to enhance your Sharpstar performance. After a bit of field testing with a full frame camera on a 15028hnt, it was determined that for better performance, we needed to do a slightly better primary mirror retainer and mask as well as some focuser bolt covers to eliminate and reduce reflections and diffraction issues with the small newtonian. This package can be purchased as a 3D 'Print Yourself' setup or we can 3D print the project for you with a carbon-infused material.
It prints on nearly any small 3D printer and we provide full instructions within the download.
Dew Sheild & Lid
The dew shield is able to slide on over the existing front of your scope. It comes with 4 magnets in both the dew shield as well as the cover for a solid flat sealed surface. The lid easily pops off and you can cover it when not in use. It also makes a great extension for easier flat capturing panels when slewed to zenith.
Primary Mirror Mask
One of the primary issues we had with the Sharpstar 15028hnt and a full frame 6200mm camera was the diffraction issues. Off-axis stars were putting very harsh one-sided diffractions into our images, evenly around all corners. To alleviate this, we built a primary mask cover that fits right on the existing primary ring using 1 of 3 bolts. This allows perfect alignment, but also extends further outward and covers all of the primary mirror collimation screw ends and mask retaining bolt heads for much less reflectivity from these off-axis components.

Focuser bolt covers
The focuser and the guide scope mounts use very shiny reflective bolts, so we have 3D printed bolt covers which minimize the change of reflections coming off these components. They simply press on or can be secured with a small dab of glue if needed.
Use Quality Carbon Infused Materials
The dew shield is designed to print in any material when you use your 3D printer, however, we highly recommend a good quality PETG-CF or ASA-CF or better filament. Lower grade PLA will warp and cause problems if in the sun for more than a few minutes.
Covered Lid and Light Panel Compatible
Take sky flats as usual or now you can point to zenith and use a flat light panel over the entire camera assembly. Point to zenith and panels can lay flat across the top, or simply cover your entire setup with our magnetic cover while you wait for the clouds to leave.
